The Monday Wrap (7th July): Heriot's stay on track for league and cup double
Gary Heatly rounds another busy domestic weekend while rain derails the start of Scotland's CC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier campaign
IT MAY have been a damp squib at Voorburg Cricket Club in the Hague on Sunday as Scotland’s first ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier was abandoned without a ball being bowled, but there was plenty of domestic action to keep us all entertained over the weekend.
On Saturday, Heriot’s consolidated their position atop of the Eastern Premier League, but it was Liam Naylor of RH Corstorphine, bludgeoning 195 off just 133 balls at Royal High School in a win over Edinburgh South. The Scotland cap has amassed an amazing 895 league runs in just nine league innings this summer including five centuries.
Meanwhile, Elston Clydesdale also won again to stretch their lead of Western Premiership One.
On Sunday, defending champions Heriot’s became the first team through to the Scottish Cup Final on August 24th with a last four win over Carlton, while Claire Levings hit an unbeaten century for Grange against Lomond Lynx in a Beyond Boundaries Women’s T20 Cup round one win with Ikra Farooq taking five wickets.
