SCOTLAND MEN kicked off the cricketing weekend on Friday with a win over Nepal in the T20 Tri-Series to round off a busy spell of home games and set things up nicely for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe qualifier in Netherlands in July.

On Saturday, Eastern Premier League leaders Heriot’s and Western Premiership One pacesetters Elston Clydesdale both won, and then backed it up on Sunday with victories in the Scottish Cup, with Carlton too progressing to the semi-finals in that competition. Stand-out performances in those Cup matches were Conor Regan taking seven wickets for Carlton, and Scotland skipper Richie Berrington making 172 for Clydesdale.

Also on Sunday, the top two in the Women’s Premier League – Watsonians/Dumfries and Stewart’s Melville – secured wins, while Falkland were edged out by Cumbrian opposition in the Village Cup.
